about me.

My name is Laura, and my life is in transition.

I am the first-born and the fourth-born in a blended family. With all the joy and hurt that's brought, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm a senior in a small town college not far from Pittsburgh, PA. I study English, and I still don't know how that will translate into The Real World. Right now, that means I read all the time, think even more, & struggle to bind my insecurity to let those thoughts breathe. I both love & hate it. The love wins every time.

This past summer, I interned at an Anglican church in a suburb of Kansas City. I fell in love with my 8th & 9th grade girls in all their complexity & silliness. At the same time, I stumbled upon an amazing community of Latino immigrants and Bhutanese refugees in the inner city, and the children there captured my heart. I don't yet know what that means for my future, but I'm excited to learn more about cross-cultural urban ministry in the coming year.

I am a Christian--I will never stop learning what that means. So far, I know this: I was born broken. I live by mending. The grace of God is glue. I love Jesus with everything I am (little as that feels sometimes), and He makes life worthwhile.
